You’ve heard us say it before: 80% of our budget comes from government sources and covers necessities such as food, shelter, and staffing. The remaining 20% is where donors come in and what makes us unique.
But what does that mean? July 4th is a great example. Some of the people we serve chose to get together and have a cookout. It was not a Jarc event for everyone we serve. It was not funded by one donor. It did not require booking a venue or caterer. It was a casual get together between friends, needing only transportation to one location, a grill, hot dogs, and snacks.
It would be easy to take ordinary opportunities like these for granted. But the people in our care must rely on donations to make this possible. Think about how you feel when you have friends over to grill or have a meal with friends. In many ways, by supporting Jarc, you are supporting normalcy: innocuous and meaningful.
