As an older adult receiving Medicaid and no additional income, new clothes and other luxuries are not in Debbie's budget. While Jarc supplements some of these items through donor funds, we are incredibly fortunate to have strong community partnerships to assist through various programs.
In 2025, Jewish Family Service generously included a few people we serve in their Adopt a Family program, which matches donors with people to get specific items on their wish lists. For Debbie, requested items included yarn for knitting, clothes, and shoes. She included a note that she loves Mickey Mouse. Not only did Debbie receive these, she was also thrilled to receive other crafts and activities to occupy her time.
When Debbie opened the gifts, her smile couldn't have been brighter. She was, and continues to be, incredibly grateful for the generosity of her community, and especially the donor that shopped for her.
